ATTENTION YORK REGION UNITS

As you may be aware the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) have been in a legal strike position beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Monday October 24, 2011. This will affect both YRT and Viva routes within York Region.

As CUPE members it is our position to support our Brothers and Sisters in ATU during a legal strike. That means respecting their picket lines and offering support by participating in information and or sympathy pickets when we are not at work.

Some of our members are being asked to volunteer to assist York Region Transit during  the strike. Not only does this fly in the face of our support for our fellow Union members attempting to get a negotiated Collective Agreement, ATU has always been very supportive of CUPE members when they have been in a similar position.
